What is Manufacturing Day?

Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.

Manufacturing Day 2016

Manufacturing Day 2016 was celebrated on Friday, October 7th (and throughout the month of October) by over 2,700 organizations in Canada, Mexico and the United States. It was quite exciting to see the enthusiastic involvement from manufacturers, economic development agencies, community colleges, local high schools, and others who participated in this special day.  Read CMTC's Manufacturing Day Recap which highlights some of the manufacturers and other organizations who opened their doors for tours and presentations for Manufacturing Day.

Below you can watch the 2016 Opening Doors & Minds Video, as well as CMTC's 2015 Manufacturing Day Event Video.  For additional Manufacturing Day videos, click here.

We need to get kids excited about manufacturing. ...we need them desperately. They're scratching their heads a lot and getting curious and that's really what National Manufacturing Day is all about, to fertilize their curiosity.*
