Herman Engineering and Manufacturing

Established in 1966, we have been raising the bar for premier slitting and converting services on the west coast for 20 years. Herman Engineering started slitting with clear polystyrene for the Audio Cassette Industry. This required close tolerances and extremely clean finished products. We felt there was an increased need for precision contract slitting on the west coast; thus Herman Engineering as it is today.

Herman Engineering & Mfg. is a multi generation Family Business started by Helmut Herrmann in 1966. He went to school in Germany to become a Master Machinist, and moved to America to start his own business. Helmut started by engineering, designing, and manufacturing first generation Ultra Sound equipment. He then started making pins for cassette tapes, and even made the machines to assemble them. Helmut passed away in 1984, and his son Gunther Herrmann and daughter Christel were left with the responsibility to keep Herman Engineering afloat. Gunther was forced to start something new with Herman Engineering as Cassette tapes were quickly being replaced by CD's. Slitting the window film for the cassette tapes (Polysterene) is what triggered Gunther's interest in slitting. Gunther started off with only one slitter and has expanded the operation to five slitters, with warehousing capability. Now, Helmut's grandchildren, Tiffany and Dustin Herrmann are an integral part of the company.

Herman now slits mostly label stock, along with specialty films, liners, paper, and much more. Our location, near major trucking transportation hubs, provides immediate distribution throughout the Los Angeles area and next day service to CA, AZ & NV. We provide the highest quality service no matter how small or large the job. With a clean, modern facility, we are here to provide you with the most dependable service available.
