Bay Area Stretcher Bars

Bay Area Stretcher Bars is dedicated to providing consistently high-quality, custom-made stretcher bars and cradled panels for artists. For 25 years, our bars and panels have been used to support original artworks in oil and acrylic on canvas. Our handcrafted, light-weight bars are straight, square, and do not warp. All of our bars and cradles are made from knot-free basswood, making our bars lightweight, straight, splinter-free, and easy to hang. We also offer raw, pre-primed canvas and linen. In addition, we provide stretching services for original artwork.

Products and Services

Our stretchers and panels are custom-made to the specific requirements of our clients. The stretchers are made from basswood, a light wight hardwood with a fine grain and archival characteristics. Our panels are made from birch or marine mahogany and rest on a basswood cradle.

Manufacturing Processes

Each of our projects is handmade from kiln-dried wood that is milled to the specific dimension of the client.
