Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division designs, develops, and produces a wide variety of hardware and software solutions that support optimization throughout the product lifecycle. These solutions support all manufacturing industries and bring together the physical and digital worlds globally.

Our factory in Oceanside, CA produces Articulated Arms (Portable Coordinate Measuring Machines) that capture 3D geometry for quality control and reverse engineering purposes. Hexagon purchased Romer Inc. of Carlsbad in 2004 and relocated to Oceanside in 2010.

Products and Services

Hexagon has produced Articulated Arms (Portable Coordinate Measuring Machines) in Carlsbad/Oceanside since the late 1980s. Holding over 50 patents, Hexagon is regarded as the industry leaders in articulated arm (Portable CMM) technology. Hexagon’s experience and innovation has led to a standard of excellence across their product, and the now established Hexagon Absolute Arm is the tool of choice within the manufacturing industry.

Manufacturing Processes

At Hexagon’s Oceanside, CA factory, many manufacturing processes are performed, including complex electro-mechanical assembly, bonding, calibration, and verification of high accuracy portable inspection systems. These systems are what is known as the Hexagon Absolute Arm.
