The owners studied architecture; the other employees are artists and skilled artisans. Founded in 1993, Metro Lighting was an early adopter of energy efficiency. Products and Services

Metro Lighting fixtures are primarily solid brass with artisan patinas. Glass shades are made from repurposed wine and liquor bottles, recycled cast glass, blown glass, and kiln-formed glass. Accolades and awards include Residential Lighting Showroom of the Year, Acterra Business Environmental Award, Cool California Climate Leader Award, 350.org Climate Solutions Award, and the East Bay Express Readers' Poll Best Green Business.

Manufacturing Processes

In Berkeley: brass tube bending, soldering, welding, metal finishing-both room temperature and torch patinas, sheet metal work, sandblasting, fabrication, assembly, wiring, and repairs.
